SFWA congratulates long-time member Jack Dawes who is to be inducted into the Saskatchewan Agriculture Hall of Fame in fall 2022. Jack is recognized for his respected work an agricultural broadcast journalist – especially his radio broadcasts on CJGX Yorkton in the 1980s and ’90s – his genuine interest in learning about the sector, and his storytelling abilities. Apart from his successful broadcast career, Jack was general manager of the Prairie Oat Growers Association from 2003 to 2011 and was key in establishing the Saskatchewan Oat Development Commission and Manitoba Oat Growers Association.
SFWA member wins international recognition
Please join SFWA executive in congratulating Becky Zimmer for being selected as a recipient of the IFAJ/Alltech Young Leaders in Agriculture Journalism award. Becky is among 10 young agricultural journalists and communicators who demonstrated outstanding achievement in reporting as well as excellent potential as leaders of the industry chosen by an international jury. Applicants were from many of IFAJ’s 56 member countries.
Becky is currently a web editor and agriculture feature writer for Jim Pattison Broadcast Group in Prince Albert and lives in Humboldt with her husband and three fur babies.
